This weekend, we took a 4 hour train from Venice to Rome, and it was by far my favorite trip this month.I have always loved and appreciated history, mostly because of my dad, and so I loved visiting the ancient capital of the Roman Empire. We got into Rome late Thursday night, and immediately found our apartment. We rented out the place through TripAdvisor, and it was such a cool place to stay at! After we unpacked, we walked to the Trevi Fountain and hung out there for a while. Literally every building in Rome is so beautiful, and the architecture is incredible. The next day we spent a full day at the Vatican, and we saw everything there was to see. We almost got swindled into overpaying for a tourguide, but decided to stick it out in the lines and ended up only having to pay 8 euros for a student deal to get into the museum and St. Peter’s Basilica. The Basilica was by far my favorite part of the Vatican, especially because we got to go to the very top of the dome!
The next day, we did some shopping, saw the Pantheon, and then spent the afternoon at the Colosseum and Roman Forum. It was incredible. To stand where the ancient Romans held events so many years ago was truly an amazing experience. I fell in love with the city, and I hope I get to return someday.
On the way home, there were no troubles thankfully, unlike our Amsterdam trip. That’s all for today, stay tuned for pictures!
